The use of dispersants, surfactants, and detergents shall be minimized except as necessary to maintain a safe workplace.
Mineral Oil may be used as a drilling lubricity additive or spotting fluid base. If mineral oil is added to the drilling fluid, no visible sheen is allowed on the surface of the receiving waters.
Industrial minerals used in drilling shall not contain more than 1 mg/kg (dry weight) of mercury and 3 mg/kg (dry weight) of cadmium as determined by Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) analysis unless a variance is granted in the composition of an imported mineral by the MECC for specific reason. Other compounds used in drilling would meet the specifications and requirements set by the regional organization (ROPME).
It is not permissible to discharge from surfaces into the sea unless the concentration of oils and grease does not exceed 15 mg/l.
Solid waste, including food waste and kitchen waste, must be strained with filters that do not allow pieces larger than 1 cm in diameter to pass before being drained.
